Excuse My Muse

Baby News!

Ok, so I've been gone way to long, but I do have an excuse! For those few that know me, know I was pregnant and expecting at the end of July...well, baby came surprisingly early. Our lovely daughter came 6 weeks early on June 9th...her grandpa's birthday yet! After a very short natural labor (yay me!) Hael Zeeta was born weighing only 3lbs. 15oz's. Being that she was so premature, but luckily heathy, she did have to stay in the hospital's NICU for just under a month to grow, gain weight and learn how to breath "all the time". Other that just being small there were no other complications and she has been home with us since July 5th. Sorry I have not written in so long but I've been one busy Mama ;) She is a great baby, happy and content. She is now 3 months old, full of smiles and giggles and just over 10lbs now. When I have time, and IF I can figure out how to post photo's I would love to show her off to you all! Anyways, just thought I'd write while she is sleeping and I have a moment to myself...a rare thing these days ;)

Lost Gospel

Last week I watched a documentry on the National Geographic channel that I found to be very interesting. I had not yet before heard of this lost gospel and I was compelled to learn more about it, it's journey from it's "grave" into what we know of it now, and what it could possible mean in the future. The documentry is called "The Lost Gospel of Judas Iscariot." Not only did I learn new information and gain new insights on Jesus, the 4 gospels of Mark thru John and the differences thereof, but I also gained a new understanding of Judas and his role in the betrayal of Jesus. I found the documentry to be very informative, not biased or one-sided, straight forward and it just made alot of sense to me. I'm glad I sat for the 2 hours and watched it. Did any of you happen to catch it? If not, it will be on again for those of you who it would interest, I would recommend you watch it.

This and That

Hiya's!

It's been awhile so I thought I'd better drop in to say "Hello", check on my fellow tbloggers, and see what's up in tblog land.

First of all....teenagers...wonderful creatures they are but they sure can be hogs when it comes to valuble computer time! I blame MSN Messenger. I'm sure there is a code that only teen's can see that has brainwashed these kids into thinking they just might parish if they don't constantly chat! What on earth did we do as teen's before there was the internet and MSN? Oh yeah, we went outside and actually hung out with our friends IRL! LOL ;)

Had a great night out last night! Myself, hubs and 8 of our friends went to the Motely Crue concert...and it was a blast! Yes, I'm a fan! They were ever so popular when I was a teenager and it was one of the best concerts I've been to! Tommy didn't play drums, he's hurt his wrist so he had a stand in but he did give us all a great techno kind of show up in the air on some nifty sky-high drum set type things and of course he also ran the ever-famous "titty-cam". I bet they think our city is pretty tame because there weren't many bare bosoms flying about. I would have rather been on the floor than in the first tier but in my rather round condition it's best I wasn't and had a comfy seat to sit in, close to the bathrooms...which is ever important to me right now! Baby must have liked...or maybe disliked? the vibrations from the noise because it sure kicked in time to the music...I'm a little sore today.

Oh yes, baby news. Well, I'm 26 weeks along now...only 14 more to go and counting! I'm not very big so far but no doubt that will change over the next couple of months. So far I'm all baby belly...no extra weight anywhere, what more could I ask for? Oh yes...not to wake up ten times a night to pee or try to find a comfortable position. An uninterrupted night's sleep....won't see one of those for awhile! We found out from our last scan that baby is healthy, growing at a good rate and that it's a GIRL! Whoohoo...I just knew it! Hubs is so pleased and tells everyone who has ears that he's having a little girl...he's so proud. Our daughter, who so badly wanted a baby brother, surprised us both by being as excited as she is about having a baby sister and tells us all the time what she will do with her new sibling. I'm so pleased that she's pleased, it will just make the transition that much easier.

Spring has finally sprung around here. We've had rain but not too much and I hope it stays that way. We do not want a repeat performance of last spring's flood! My tulips and day lilly's are starting to come up and the warm sunshine just makes everyone feel better :)

That's me of late in a nutshell.

Be good and Happy Easter!

Away

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am having technical difficulties IE: My computer's motherboard went kaput! It is being fixed and I should be back online by the weekend.

Crazy Religious

This topic could include any fanatical person of any of the World's religions. It just happens that in my examples it describes a few people of the various Christian religions.

Maybe it's the way I was raised, or maybe it's my deeply ingrained common sense, but it's something I've never understood and doubt I ever will.

What is it that makes some individuals "Crazy Religious"?

By this I mean:

What makes a person so obsessed with religion, not nessarily God or their faith's tenants, that interferres with their otherwise previous normality?

Some personal exaples I have witnessed are:

I know a man who, as a child along with his siblings, was forced by his mother to attend church. By forced I mean by any means possible this woman would get her kids to church...and on time. She would bribe them, scare them, knock the "devil" out of them, any means possible to show up at church and look like one big happy, dressed in their finest, family. Her one daughter was taking too long to do her hair one Sunday morning and as a result of the mothers frustration with this girl the mother threw a high heeled shoe and her, of which the heel of the shoe stuck in the childs head. Needless to say, that day they did miss church and speant the morning meant to be in worship, in the ER instead. As some of her children got older, they did not like church so much, nor how they were treated within the church so they no longer wanted to attend. The mother would do anything to keep them going, so she would pay the older children to attend. What brand of desperation causes this? A desperation for her children's souls or for the sake of being seen as she thought they should, where she thought they should be seen?

What causes people to eat, drink, dream and push their religion?

What would cause a single mother of 5 children who is poor, cannot support her children, cannot always properly feed her children, to give whatever little money they did have to a t.v. evangilist on a regular basis?

What causes certain people to falsely talk in toungs at the drop of a hat just so they can "look" the part of being devout, chosen by God to do so?

Why would one feel the need to see and feel the "Devil" in a person, situation or certain environment? Therefore running around hitting walls or people to drive the devil out?

Does that really work? I would think if the "devil" were in someone it just might take more than a whack from a whacko to drive him out, no?

Why do some people find it is their duty to save everyone else's immortal soul by way of bullying, beating, fear, mental and physical abuse?

Why do some people beat and abuse thier children in the name of God?

I've heard some people say it's in the Bible, so it is right to do so. I don't think Jesus would beat whom he loves...do you?

So please, if you have any insight or experience in knowing a similar type of person as described above, share it. Even if you've never known someone similar to this and think you know what would cause these types of people to be like this, share it.

Everyone's opinions are welcome.

A Giggle

Four Animals
You've got to love this little girl. What a woman she'll make.
A teacher asked her class, "What do you want out of life?"
A little girl in the back row raised her hand and said; All I want
out of life is four little animals, just like my mom always says"
The teacher asked "Really and what four little animals would
that be?"
The little girl said. "A mink on my back, a jaguar in the
garage,a tiger in the bed and a jackass to pay for it all."
The teacher fainted.

Ding-Dong...

Ding-dong....no, it's not the Avon lady...it's either the local Jehovah Witnesses or Morman Missionaries coming to share their "good-news" with me.

Never mind the sign on my door that says "No Religious Soliciting" printed boldly in red!

I wouldn't mind so much, or even need a sign on my door, if it weren't for the regularity of these visitors. Sometimes they make the journey to my door 3 or 4 times a week! Why, I ask myself, do they want to share a book or pamphlets with me when they obviously can't read....that sign printed in bold red letters is pretty hard to miss.

I used to be polite, chat with them a bit, let them read me their scripture of the day, and then watch them wiggle in discomfort when I would ask a question about said scripture....sometimes the looks they would give eachother caused me to stiffle a giggle.

I have even explained on more than one occasion that I believe in God, and that Jesus indeed did walk this earth, but that I am not interested in joining any organized religion, nor just believe in one "truth." Somewhere along the way they must have stopped listening because week after week they come back, ringing my door bell. I've stopped answering the door when they come, I don't know what else to say.

Why do some people of certain faiths choose to solicit their brand of religion?

Why don't these people understand that perhaps you already have a faith and don't want to be signed up for theirs?

Is there some kind of prize they get when they sign up so many...are we counted as points on Sunday morning?

I just don't understand. I don't go door to door selling my faith. As wonderful as a faith might make you feel, what right does one have to shove it down other peoples throats, even when they've clearly stated their not interested?

I am supposed to listen to them, yet, they show no courtesy by listening to me.

Yes, God is good...bludy marvelous in fact! So I'm pretty darn sure God doesn't need these few select followers to tell people that....over and over and over again.

I've found God. It might not be your restrictive brand of God I have found, nor is it your "these are the rules of our church" brand of faith, but it's there and it makes me happy....so what's so wrong with that?

I need a new sign on my door...any suggestions?

Baby News

Yesterday was an exciting day for my family and I. I went for my second ultrasound, the grand tour it was called. Hubs and our daughter were quite impressed, they had never seen anything like it!

Not that the radiology techs tell you alot, but she did say everything looks good. Baby was moving around like crazy, much to the dismay of my VERY full bladder! A couple of times I thought I might not make it, but I did....just. We got to see every part...well almost every part...of the baby. We got some really good pics to bring home with us...even one of baby sucking it's fingers.

We were very excited to find out the sex of the baby only to be dissapointed. Apparently the techs don't tell you anymore, they forward your scan results to your doctor and you have to ask about the sex from your doctor. I was so hoping to buy something non-unisex for the baby yesterday but I guess that will have to wait.

So, I'm 19 weeks, 5 days. Baby weighs 11oz and I have a new due date, July 21st....I seriously hope I don't make it quite that far - 9 months pregnant and July's +30C heat and I are not going to get along!

My Birthday

Yesterday I was the birthday girl....I turned the big 30  *ahem* I mean 29 again ;)

I figure starting this year I will go backwards each year so I can one day be 18 again!

Recieved some lovely Lavender bath products from my daughter, a hilarious card from her and our friend, a set of very expensive make-up brushes from my hubs (I've wanted them for so long!) and we all went out and had a nice Italian meal :)

I was well wished by family and friends, what more could a gal want :)

Me and My Shovel

...Snow shovel, that is.

Winter, what's that? My only clue that is was Winter was that the Winter Olympics have interrupted regular scheduled&nb sp;programing.....until yesterday that is.

In the past 24 hours more snow has fallen than we've seen all winter. It's been sunny, mild, and even spring-like warm until now. It's all my fault, and I know it. My birthday is on Sunday, I was born during a blizzard and ever since that day there has been a blizzard just before or on my birthday....so I take full responsibilty ;)

My daughter shoveled the sidewalk late yesterday afternoon and by suppertime you couldn't even tell it had been done!

So, me and my snow shovel...did I mention it's new - lucky me - went for a walk today. Down our rather long driveway and along the sidewalk. I even did our elderly neighbors sidewalk too. It wasn't snowing while I was out there but as I passed the window on my way to get a coffee only moments ago I noticed the sky has let loose again....must be Murphey's Law.

Puzzlin'

A blonde called her old boyfriend and said, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure it out or how to get it started."

Her old boyfriend asked, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?" The blonde said, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her old boyfriend decided to go over and help with the puzzle. She let him in and showed him where she had the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studied the pieces for a moment, then looked at the box, then turned to her and said, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger.

He took her hand and said, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of hot chocolate and then...........",he sighed,

"Let's put all these frosted flakes back in the box."

Catholics vs. South Park

As I was reading some news online this morning I came across an article, apparently some Catholics in New Zealand are in an uproar about an episode of South Park entitled "Bloddy Mary."

Now, as anyone who is a fan of South Park, or not, knows that the shows popularity comes from the fact that it is a crude, rude, saterical, low-blow type of humor that is used to make the writers point's of view known. And, for those of us who don't think their topics of satire are offending, it's awfully damn funny!

Ok, so these Catholics from NZ are in an uproar because of the content of this particular episode and their Bishops are urging their parishioners to boycott the show, the channel and their sponsers.

My question is: Why are these Catholics watching South Park in the first place??

I'm not Catholic, but my first guess would be that if you were a good Catholic you wouldn't be watching such an ugly and tasteless show in the first place. Am I wrong? Wouldn't that be going against some sort of moral fiber that's been instilled in you by the Church?

It's quite simple really. If you don't like a show, don't watch it. No one's holding a gun to your head. The creators of South Park don't care if you turn the channel, they'd probaby prefer that you did. Why get all up-in-arms about a half hour cartoon? There must be something that holds much more meaning, of more substance out there for you to get your knickers in a knot about....no?

I'm gonna pray. I'm gonna pray for those people who can find nothing else of more importance to get upset about. I'm going to pray that those people dig deeper to find a worthy cause to fuss about, to make a difference about. Because, let's face it, the creators of South Park are soaking up this amo for a future episode.
